When you begin music lessons with fp Music Academy, you will need to either have an instrument in your home or available to you for practice on a daily basis. This will facilitate proper learning of the material presented.

We can help you with the purchase or rental of an instrument, or give you some free guidance on what to look for in a musical instrument that will help yours or your child’s learning progress.

Practice time is essential for you to learn the material presented. Really, the true learning of the skill of playing a musical instrument occurs during practice time. Practice time is the time in which you make the piece of music your own. We at fp Music Academy do not place any requirements on the amount of time nor how often a student practices.

It is the responsibility of you or your family to create an environment that encourages the enjoyment of practice time, to invest enough time in practice to learn the material, and to progress in skill. It is the responsibility of all teachers of fp Music Academy to encourage the enjoyment and efficacy of practice time.

Each practice time may include any or all of these:

It is also best when parents and students avoid the expectation that progress will be linear – progressing smoothly from “easier” to “harder” pieces. You should be aware that we may emphasize different aspects of music playing and creation at different times based on the student’s needs and interests.
