Instructor
Multi-Talented
Kaitlyn McVay has a wide range of instrumental knowledge that she loves sharing with her students. She believes that music can have such a huge impact in one’s life. Music can become a coping skill, a hobby, or just be for fun! No one is too young or old to learn a new skill!
She has been involved with music from a very young age. She started experimenting with her dad’s drum set at around 4 years old. She started taking piano lessons at age 7, and over the years she has found new musical instruments to explore and continue to learn!
Ms. McVay currently plays and teaches piano, bass guitar, ukulele, recorder, flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, as well as percussion. She has the most experience with piano, percussion and bass guitar. In high school, she performed with the school’s jazz band, vocal jazz, show choir, concert band and many honor bands, and has also played in several school and community musicals. After high school, she continued her musical adventure by playing in a college band.
Fun fact: Kaitlyn started and directed a community band in high school! This was a smaller band that performed mostly over the summer and consisted of musicians of a wide range of ages. They practiced weekly to perform for a local festival. This is something she would love to do again!
She also works in the school system as a para educator and enjoys working with children who have special needs. She has always had a knack for helping people and being a para educator allows her to provide support for both teachers and students. She is always helping students with learning, motivation, life skills, and coping mechanisms. This is something that she enjoys very much, so if you or your child may need extra support, look no further!
Have you ever wanted to play the piano or refresh your skills? Kaitlyn can help!
