Mike Nemeth founded and runs fp Music Academy. fp Music Academy is a music school dedicated to teaching music in ways that fit our students’ lifestyles.

Mike started teaching piano professionally in the fall of 2017 after he was asked to teach by someone who heard him play. He started Fairfax Piano in 2018 as a solo piano teaching studio. In 2020, Fairfax Piano became fp Music Academy and began offering products and services in addition to piano lessons. In 2023, fp Music Academy expanded its operations into a full-featured music store called Music151. Now, fp Music Academy:

• Has a staff of teachers in multiple states instructing in over 20 musical instruments,
• Offers sales of teacher-approved musical instruments, books, supplies, and accessories,
• Offers service of musical instruments that are acoustic, electronic, and digital, and
• Offers a small space for recitals, concerts, and other events.

Mike learned to play piano at an early age and learned quickly under the expert guidance of Dr. Ejnar Krantz. He has been playing piano for over 50 years and has accompanied church music for many congregations. Along the way, he picked up the skill of piano tuning and now tunes his own piano and many others. He currently plays piano or synthesizer with the Sunday music team (guitar, drums, bass guitar, vocalists) at Cedar Valley Bible Church.

Mike is trained as an engineer and has his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has worked for many different engineering companies in three states. During his last engineering assignment, he founded a company that consulted on solar energy installations. That company ceased operations in favor of devoting his full-time energies to growing fp Music Academy.

Mike enjoys passing along his piano skills to others of any age. He is happily married and has lived in Eastern Iowa for over 25 years. He enjoys networking and mentoring other business owners. He and his wife love their flourishing gardens and enjoy cooking what they grow, and she is his most-trusted advisor.
